MILLION DOLLARS spent on Statue in Perth Instead of our Homeless or Sick People

This is what greeted us as we stepped off the train in Perth on a recent visit to our city in Forrest Place. I was astounded when I saw where the City of Perth is spending hard earned dollars.  I could not believe they could waste this amount of money on a monstrosity like this.

As we stood there flabbergasted, a person walked up to us and said can you believe that that cost us a Million dollars?   We could not believe that our powers to be could use Western Australia's money in such a way.

Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against modern art, but at1 million dollars, surely during these hard economic times the money could have been spent on a much better project.

Money would be spent better on: helping the hundreds of homeless people and creating jobs than a masterpiece that looks like part of the human anatomy.

Do we know what we are paying for when buying food

I have to be honest when saying that I hate going shopping these days.  We have no real idea where or how our food is made or processed. Supermarkets and the like mix products like fruit and vegetables on their shelves. When you buy a kilo of oranges for instance you may have some with pips and some without or navels mixed with other varieties. Most of the products on our shelves is so misrepresented that we have no way of knowing what or anything is processed in the country of origin. For instance Australian made could mean: Some of the product is Australian The paper or cardboard packaging is Australian It could have a mixture of imported and Australian produce Why are we being lied to? Why can't the powers to be enforce the manufacturers to label products correctly? I have enjoyed writing for years as a novice although I now write together with my daughter on another site.  We share the same interests like photography, crafts,  mosaics, crochet, and my husband also enjoys working with glass which we love the things he makes. This is Sharon's latest project of Mosaics the nearly finished bird bath that will go next to their fish pond. Do you think the birds will think they will catch a fish for dinner when they first get to see this? Looks great now it finished. My daughter works full time yet she still has time to do these and believe me it is not always easy.
